I read If I Stay months ago and fell completely in love with it. It’s a simple and beautifully told story about first love, family, and profound choices. It’s also one of the few books that have made me cry, and I’m not talking about a few pretty tears; by the end I was fully and embarrassingly sobbing. Here’s the publisher’s blurb, incase you’re unfamiliar:
In the blink of an eye everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall what happened afterwards, watching her own damaged body being taken from the wreck. Little by little she struggles to put together the pieces – to figure out what she has lost, what she has left, and the very difficult choice she must make. Heartwrenchingly beautiful, Mia’s story will stay with you for a long, long time.
Here’s an interview: http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-3859-Hartford-Books-Examiner~y2010m4d22-If-I-Stay with Gayle Forman in which she discusses If I Stay, the movie adaptation, comparisons to Twilight and The Lovely Bones and the role of music in the book. Definitely worth checking out if you’re already a fan, or if your curious to learn more!
