In the spirit of Friday Five and Friday Funny, I give you:
Five Funny Things My Four-Year-Old Daughter Said This Week…
5. “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if I had a Princess Leia tattoo?”
4. In reference to the 1986 film Labyrinth: “Hey, can we watch that movie where David Bowie steals Toby?”
3. “I’m sorry I acted naughty. I’m going through a growth spurt.”
2. When asked if she wanted to call her Nana and Poppy: “Nah. They’re probably still sleeping. Old people need a lot of rest.” (My parents are in their fifties and it was 10:00 a.m.)
1. “Daddy, your beard makes you look like a badass.”
So? What’s funny in your world these days?
I hope you’re writing all these down! (oh wait – you just did – hee) She’s adorable! And I LOVE that she wants a Princess Leia tattoo! My son has such a huge crush on her. 🙂
Love this, Katy! Thanks for sharing! Oh, and wish the family a Happy Star Wars Day!
I will! My husband will roll his eyes when I say, “May the Fourth be with you,” but he’ll secretly enjoy it, I’m certain. 😉
Adorable, Katy! Your daughter is really adorable, funny and considerate (I mean her answer about her grandparents was so cute!) too 😀 I cracked up at that one: “I’m sorry I acted naughty. I’m going through a growth spurt.”
I wonder where she got all this sassiness from?
Oh and what did your hubby answer to “Daddy, your beard makes you look like a badass.”?
We were in the car when she made the badass comment. My husband and I looked at each other and tried not to let her see us cracking up. She’s an only child and has lots of time around adults, so I think she overhears and picks up on A LOT. She’s like a little sponge!
Out of the mouths of babes 🙂 They all crack me up, especially badass dad!
Her dad *is* quite the badass, but yeah… Never did I think she’d realize that at FOUR!
I think #3 is my favorite!
Yeah… she’s definitely spouted some gems. 🙂
The first and third are my favorites. Priceless! I also wrote about some funny things my kids have said. They’re great sources!
Oh, they sure are. My daughter says something that makes me laugh every. Single. Day. Looking forward to reading your post, Dana!
I love her. Love love love her.
Ha! Me too! 🙂
Ha! That’s good. Oh hey, I also passed the Kreativ Blogger Award along to you at my blog. No need to do it if you’re not up to or haven’t already, but I thought I’d let you know. 🙂
Thanks so much, Liz! Now I’ll have something fun to write about for a “MAY I Tell You Something About Myself?” post. You rock!
This is so great. Also, the fact that she knows who David Bowie is? Impressive. I ❤ your daughter.
Me too! My husband taught her all about David Bowie when he introduced her to the Goblin King. Sometimes when she’s playing I’ll catch her humming the tune of “Dance, Magic, Dance.”
So adorable! My daughter is 5 too (in 2 weeks actually) so she’s in the same stage, speaking the most funny phrases I could never imagine! I wish I knew when she’s gonna say them so I could record it LOL
Oh, I would love to get all of this on tape. Writing it down seems to be the best alternative. 🙂
So cute, and hilarious! I love #3.
Thanks, Rebecca!
It WOULD be funny if she had a Princess Leia tattoo!
Star Wars, David Bowie, being considerate of “old people” and a badass father? From what I can see, you’re raising your daughter right 😉
Ha! We hope so. 🙂 And yeah… It might be funny if she had a Star Wars tattoo — when she’s EIGHTEEN year old!
HA, this is hilarious. It’s amazing how funny kids are when they just aren’t meaning to be:) Too cute.
Thanks, Lindsay. She really does make me laugh every single day. 🙂
Ha!! That’s GREAT! I LOVE the David stealing Toby!!!! That’s a great movie!! LOL Happy Friday!
Oh, that movie! It’s one of my husband’s childhood favorites, and apparently it’s going to be one of our daughter’s childhood favorites as well!
How cute! “Going through a growth spurt” – that’s priceless! I love the one about old people needing a lot of rest too.
Yeah, she’s definitely absorbing everything she hears us say. Sometimes that’s good, and sometimes that’s BAD!
MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!!!! And LOL “old people need rest” (weird – Katy, our parents are the same age…well actually mine are older. Funny how people are in different ages/stages of their lives) And I actually just saw Labyrinth for the 1st time ever this year, and I was 22. 🙂 (I’m trying to get used to saying that I am 23 lol). Thanks for sharing – this was too cute/funny!
I didn’t see Labyrinth until adulthood either. I probably wasn’t *quite* as impressed as my husband had hoped I’d be. 🙂
LOL, what a sassy girl! I don’t know if I knew what “badass” was at 4 years old! Your girl is adorable; thanks for sharing her precious lines. 🙂
She only knows what badass means because her parents constantly fail to censor themselves. 😉
Aww, Katy she is SO adorable!!! What a sweetheart and super entertaining too! I loved the growth spurt comment. My four year old has taken a similar approach and tried to convince me that she’s just going through a “phase” so nothing for mommy to worry about 🙂 Kiddos are the best!
Thanks, Temre! She’s definitely entertaining, and yes, constantly jumping into new phases the second we figure out how to deal with an old one. Silly kiddos!
Good taste in movies, littlest Upperman! Also how adorable is her explanation for being naughty? *Super* adorable. And yeah, beards’ll do that.
Thanks, Sophia! Oh, she’s got an explanation for EVERYTHING. I swear, this summer she’ll turn 15 instead of 5!
