One Word Wednesday

{It’s been a little brisk in our neck of the woods lately (like, a high of 60 degrees with some pretty chilly wind — I know you feel SO bad for me), but still, it’s so nice to look out the window and see sun. This Washington girl did not truly understand the toll 226 cloudy days a year (Seattle’s average) could take on a person’s mental state until she moved to the land of sun. I’m feeling thankful!}

{We went hiking in the Carmel Valley last weekend. It was beautiful and I took this picture of my crew, which I loved… Until I noticed Lucy popping a squat front and center. Aren’t pets fun?}

{This is so my Happy Place: Cozy socks, comfy couch, good book. Who cares that this was taken on a Saturday night and that Katy of a Decade Ago would totally cringe if she knew how lame Current Katy has become?}

{My girlie had Monday off from school so we went out for a long afternoon walk followed by ice cream at the coolest little parlor. The building’s facade looks like it’s straight out of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and the interior is full of mismatched furniture and vintage rock memorabilia. My girl had Midnight Cookies and Cream, and I had Banana Chocolate Chip Carmel… Yum!}

{Food recommendation: I chopped up mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and added them to a few loaves of Banana Bread. Definitely a fun, easy treat to try. And hey, there are bananas in it, so we’ll just go ahead and pretend it’s healthy.}

{IĀ ā™„ her. That is all.}

Tell me: What have you been up to these days?

    I think you just might live in the most beautiful part of the country. I’m so jealous of all your family hikes. And Current Meredith is right there with Current Katy. A good book on a Saturday night sounds just perfect. šŸ™‚

    Love all of these pictures, Katy! I know my girls would have adored the little ice cream shop you and your sweet daughter found, and it sort of sounds like a neat MG fantasy scene. I love that our daughters are to the age now where taking walks and talking and just being together is so much fun. Special ā¤ I also think current Katy is awesome and know everyone else would agree with me!

      Thank you, Tem! Isn’t it so fun to be able to hang out with our girls? My munchkin is such good company and so full of personality and smiles, and I’m sure your girls are too! Someday we’ll all have to get together for Girls’ Day Out!

    I love the photos, Katy. šŸ™‚ I’m kind of envious of your weather, though it hasn’t been overly cold here lately. I think I’m just good and ready for Spring right about now. It looks like where you live is absolutely gorgeous.

    • katyupperman says:

      Thanks, Jaime! It has been gorgeous. Much like spring almost every day. We are very lucky! I think my girlie misses snow just a little, though I definitely do not. šŸ™‚

    Um 60 degrees? LOL That’s COLD? We just had 2 feet of snow! šŸ˜‰ Super envious of your weather. šŸ˜› I love your pictures and your girl’s guitaaar. And speaking of banana bread- my roommate made 2 loaves the other night (walnuts and chocolate chip added) but Reese’s in it sounds soooooo good. Too bad the roommate doesn’t like peanut butter.

    • katyupperman says:

      Banana bread with chocolate and walnuts sounds fantastic too. I can’t believe your roommate doesn’t like peanut butter… I didn’t even know that was possible! It’s probably one of my top five favorite foods. šŸ™‚

    Your food excursions always sound so yum! That ice cream place is adorable. Would love to visit! šŸ™‚

    This kind of weather is why I don’t think I can ever live anywhere but California.

    • katyupperman says:

      Yeah, I’m going to be so sad when the Army sends us away from California! Next time you’re in this area, you should definitely check out the Ice Cream Shoppe. šŸ™‚
