I’ve been following mother/Australian/social-media-maven Fat Mum Slim (AKA Chantelle) for awhile now. Her Instagram feed is fantastic (she created #FMSPhotoADay) and her blog is an inspiration — full of tips on photography, entertaining, travel, and building a platform, as well as some very thoughtful reflections on parenting and life. I recommend following if you’re not already.
Anyway…
The other day, Chantelle posted the following question:
How would you describe your blog in just 3 words?
I’ve been blogging for over three years, and I love it. I’ve found my personal blogging style mostly through trial and error. While I’m sure I’ve made a few mistakes along the way, I’m very proud of what my blog has become. Through it, I’ve learned a lot and made some wonderful friends. I look forward to many more years of posting. Here’s how I’d describe my blog in 3 words:
Cheerful, conversational, bookish.
Tell me: What 3 words would you use to describe your blog?
I would add informative, fun, and swoonworthy (or drool-inducing – your pictures of your baking creations certainly do that, but I think swoonworthy sounds better 🙂 )
As for my blog? Um…optimistic, spastic, and enthusiastic. Also, long-winded. Like this comment. 🙂
Great post! Have a great week!
I love your three words, Alison, and I totally feel them when I read your posts. Optimistic and enthusiastic blogs are the best. 🙂
Hmm 3 words that describe my blog? Sarcastic, bookish and peppy. I sometimes think I should attach my internet pom poms to my person in real life 😉 Have a great week, Katy, What a cute post!
Those words fit your blog perfectly, Rachel! Great choices. 🙂
I would definitely agree with all three of the words you’ve chosen and I’d throw something in relating to your pictures, because I love seeing them. 🙂
Thanks, Jaime! I like a post with visuals. Obviously. 🙂
What are your three words?
Love it! I’ve enjoyed reading your blog and getting to know you better through your posts. 🙂
Thanks, Ghenet! I’d miss blogging if I ever had to stop. And what about your blog… What are your three words?
Those are perfect words to describe your blog! If you were allowed a couple more, you could add ‘scenic’, because of all the gorgeous photos of California, and ‘adorable’ for all the cute pics of your family. 🙂
Aww, thanks, Erin! I’m definitely a fan of including images in posts. What about your three words?
I second Erin–‘adorable’ is the perfect word for all your family pics! I think my words would be rambling, girly and silly 🙂
Thanks, Rebecca! I love your three words, especially “girlie” because I love the feminine look of your blog. 🙂
These three words are PERFECT. I agree with “adorable” as well. Also: “personal.” I feel like I *know* you, even though we’ve never met in real life. You share so many tidbits about your family, morning runs, book preferences, backing adventures, etc, via the the blog, and I absolutely adore that. ❤
As for me, lately my blog has been: insightful, promotional, and ill-maintained. 😦 I'd love to get back to doing more personal posts… and flow charts and freebies. I think the only thing I consistently blog these days are my monthly bulk reviews. Le sigh.
Thank you, Erin! I like that personal is a good thing in your book. There seems to be a fine line between sharing too much and not being personable enough. Hopefully I’m walking on the right side of that line. 🙂
While I do miss your more regular posting, the relative quietness at your blog makes perfect sense. I kind of love the promotional posts anyway. It’s so much fun to share in friends’ excitement and success! Also, I love your monthly book reviews; I’ve read some amazing books thanks to your recommendations.
I love that your blog is conversational, cheerful, and creative as well as bookish. But all the words everyone came up with seem to apply. It’s visible even in your picture. 🙂 My blog? I’d have to go with informative, supportive, and collaborative. I hope.
I totally agree with the three words you chose for your blog, Martina. I’ve been following it for years and I’ve learned so much. 🙂
Love your 3 words. I agree with your choices. My 3 words at the moment are “Work in progress”. I’ve felt very casual toward my blog this summer and just want to work on my books. I will have to push through this ‘blog slump’ eventually.
Thanks, Char! Best of luck getting back into the swing of blogging. 🙂
