MAY I ask something about you?

During our recent road trip to California, we spent a few nights in Cannon Beach, Oregon, which is pretty much my favorite town ever.

While in Cannon Beach, my husband, daughter, and I experienced what turned out to be an entirely perfect day. It was one full of kite flying, sandcastle building, picnicking, hiking, biking, and shopping. We capped our perfect day with the perfect meal, a four course evening of deliciousness at The Irish Table. Dinner began with cider beer (a Shirley Temple for my girlie) and authentic Irish soda bread, followed by roasted beet salad, then fresh grilled halibut with fingerling potatoes and zucchini. After watching the sunset, we walked to a local grocery store and picked up a ridiculously expensive dark chocolate candy bar that was packed with almonds and cherry bits. All in all, the meal was freaking amazing. Frankly, I wish I could relive every delectable bite right this very second.

So, my question for you: What is your idea of the perfect meal (location, company, food, drink, etc…)?

This is such a hard question. Gah!!! I refuse to answer it 😛
My ideal perfect meal is surrounded by friends and family anywhere drinking some nice white wine and a 3 course meal. (Because I love multi-course meals. Hahaha.)

On another serious note – you can find those candy bars easily in Trader Joe’s if you ever need another ‘expensive candy bar pick me up’ 🙂

Good to know, Rachel! I’ve located TWO Trader Joe’s here in CA already, mostly because they stock my favorite wine. Now I have another reason to pay them a visit. 🙂

Oh gracious, that sounds like a scrumptious day! And that’s not just the meal! My perfect meal always involves beer and sushi, take out, and hanging with my family. I know – boring, but that’s the way I like it. 🙂

    Sounds like a perfect day!
I don’t know that I could choose one meal; I love food too much. Now that summer’s approaching, I’d love to be on my parents’ deck, drinking red wine and eating my mom’s shish kebabs, green rice, and fresh fruit.

This is such a good (but tough!) question. My perfect meal is Mexican food and margaritas with a group of good friends. Since you asked for location, I’ll pick my favorite place, San Diego. 🙂 I’d have chips & queso, enchiladas or a chicken burrito, and a frozen margarita. Some kind of ice cream for dessert.

Mexican! My very favorite food! It’s what I choose anytime it’s “my turn.” 🙂 I always go for peach daiquiris and big taco salads with lots of guacamole. Yum!

I can always count on your posts to conjure up yummy goodness first thing in the morning! Your meal (and day!) sounds wonderful – and what a great memory you now have! As for me, this has always ranked pretty high as one of my most perfect meals – the local didn’t hurt, either :):

Location: Italy – San Gimignano (Tuscan Valley)
    Company: Husband
Food: Authentic to the T, Neapolitan caprese pizza
Drink: An amazing glass of Sangiovese red wine

Ahhhhh, it’s been seven years since that meal and I still can’t stop thinking about it!

Hope you’re getting settled in, you’re enjoying your new home, and the weather is awesome! It’s been “crying” here in the NW, since you left. 🙂

Yum, I do love me some Italian food. But, ever since I started to lay off carbs, it’s just not quite as fun. I do like to treat myself to a big plate of Fettuccine Alfredo every seldom while, though. 🙂

I love going over to my in-laws’ house, because they make the best meals ever. They love entertaining, so they’re always trying new things. Plus, the company is great. Couldn’t ask for much more than that. 🙂

My mother-in-law is a fantastic cook as well. She makes some of my very favorite desserts. She knows it too, and makes the yummiest treats on the days I need them most. I miss not living so close to her now because I could definitely use a piece of her “pudding dessert” right now! 🙂

My perfect place to be is on the beach at Hanalei beach — the view is spectacular, and rainbows seem to form every few minutes. I don’t care what I eat if I’m there; but here at home, my favorite place to eat is Sakana’s Sushi restaurant. Every morsel is amazing and colorful and beautiful to look at and eat.

    • katyupperman says:

I love when food is beautiful as well as tasty. And Hanalei sounds amazing. I think I’ll have to add it to my list of Must-Visit locales. Thanks, Char!

I can’t answer this because I like too many foods! 🙂

I cansay that I love those chocolate bars. I buy them here about once every two months. Yum!

My perfect meal would be at this place called The Three Crowns, which seems like just a normal pub but has THE BEST food around, and I’d be there with all of my friends – definitely a dream since there’s no way we could ever afford the bill! Maybe one day…

A long, luxurious meal with a guy friend who is ridiculously easy to talk to. As long as the location allows for outrageous conversation topics (so either somewhere private, like a beach picnic, or somewhere quiet but with space between the diners, like a nice pub lunch), and the food is good (um, too much to list), I’d be happy.
