Happy
{Beach + Exercise + Sunrise = Katy’s Happy Place. This particular morning was stunning, plus I got to run with my husband. Perfection.}
Trendsetter
{This cutie got a new guitar pick necklace, which she (we) think is pretty cool. She’s shown it off to her teacher at school, as well as her guitar instructor, and the general consensus is that it rocks. Also, the back says “Girls Rock!” which is pretty much icing on the awesome cake.}
Scrumptious
{Blue Germ Pancakes, my very favorite breakfast, at First Awakenings, my very favorite breakfast spot. My parents were in town last week, so of course we had to hit up all the best local eateries. We went to First Awakenings twice. Yum. :)}
Adorable
{This Is What Happy Looks Like… Oh, this book. It’s making me so HAPPY, which is perfect considering its title. Contemporary romance at its best, I think. Jennifer E. Smith is quickly becoming one of my new favorite authors.}
Lucky
{As I mentioned, my parents (Nana and Poppy) recently visited. My girlie is so fortunate to have two sets of adoring grandparents (my husband’s parents, Mimi and Baba, visited last month). My daughter loves her grandparents so much (clearly), and she’s always thrilled to see them. Come back soon!}
So… What’s new with you this week?
Breakfast is my favorite meal ever, although I rarely get to go to my favorite breakfast spots because I work when they’re open. There’s one I go to sometimes that Ryan Stiles from Whose Line apparently frequents but I’ve yet to see him there…
Breakfast is by far my favorite meal of the day. I usually only eat it on weekends and out at cafes and diners, and every time it is such a treat! We’re lucky to have lots of good spots, but there are two in particular that I would happily go to every morning.
Keep us posted on your Ryan Stiles sightings. π
Beautiful pics as always, Katy! That sunrise run on the beach sounds fabulous. And thanks for the THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE rec!
Thank you, Rebecca! I bet you’ll enjoy THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE. It made me want to take a trip to Maine (and meet a movie star!).
Wow, I love the sunrise pic Katy! So very beautiful – I am a HUGE beach lover too and this picture was just bliss. I also adore the joyful look on your cutie’s face and her grandma and grandpa’s. As a mama, it is just the best to see these special relationships that are kiddos develop with other family members. I am also so intrigued by THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE, thank you for the recommendation! Hugs β€
I hope you get to read THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE, Tem. I think you’ll be just as charmed by it as I was. And yes, I totally agree about watching our kiddos with their family members — especially those over-indulgent grandparents. π
That sunrise photo is amazing, Katy! I could easily take a walk there. π I haven’t eaten yet this morning, so that pancake is really making my stomach growl. Yum! I wish that we had some better eateries around here. You know, the kind that aren’t part of a chain. (Like Applebees and the fifty million others with a nearly identical menu.) I’m glad you enjoyed THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE too. It was exactly the kind of book I was in the mood for when I read it. So cute! π
I read THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE based on your and Jess’s recommendation, and I’m so glad I did. It pulled me out of my mostly depressing book streak. Totally adorable!
We’re lucky to have lots of good eateries in our town. In fact, we rarely eat at chains anymore because there are so many great local places. That said, my waistline and my wallet are not exactly benefiting. π
You live is such a beautiful part of the country! Love that sunrise pic. I can’t wait to read THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE. My TBR is getting out of control!
Thanks, Ghenet! We feel very lucky to be able to live here in California, even if it’s just for a little while. I’ll be so sad when it’s time to move! You’ll have to let me know what you think of THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS like. As a fellow contemporary fan and writer, I think you’ll love it!
I’m hoping to get to THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE really soon. I’ve heard it’s a very sweet story, something I’m always in the mood for. That sunrise picture is amazing! I wish I was more of a morning person (and a runner), but when I see the sunrise it tends to be at the end of an all nighter after writing for way too long. π
Oh, man… I am so NOT an all-nighter kind of person. I like to be in bed before nine, and asleep before ten. I’m such a granny at heart! I suppose the benefit is that I get to enjoy lots of sunrises. π
THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE is definitely a sweet story. I loved that the two main characters were respectful to one another and genuinely cared about each other. There was no manufactured drama. I absolutely recommend it!
That is such a gorgeous picture of the beach! Nothing much new with me this week, but I did start writing bite-sized poetry on Twitter and it’s been really fun!
I’ve been following along with your bite-sized poetry and I love it. Such a fun idea. If I was a poet in any sense of the word, I might join in. π
I always love your one word Wednesday posts. I want to come up with some sort of regular feature like this that will make it easy to at least do a blog post a week. I need to give this some thought.
Love the guitar pick necklace π I also loved the thug life photo you posted earlier this week.
Thanks, lady! Did you see Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk’s What’s Up Wednesday idea? I think I’m going to start doing that every other Wednesday… It’s a fun, low maintenance way to update everyone on what you’re working on/reading/doing with your life. You should do it too!
Those pancakes look delicious!!!!!!!!! (I think my priorities are obvious)
Haha… The fact that I photographed the pancake and then posted it online says a lot about my priorities too. π
YUM! These Blue Germ Pancakes look delicious and that pic of your girlie with her grandparents is simply adorable π I really enjoyed THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE…And I wish I could just hop on a plane and visit Maine right now.
Last week was busy busy. I had a conference in Vienna so I was there from Sunday night to Tuesday night. Worked late every single day of the week. Crossing my fingers it will slow down soon. Do you know what made me super duper happy though last week? A certain DM from a certain friend about a certain book π Can’t wait to read it!
Knowing that a certain someone is excited about reading this revision is making it go so much faster. Thank you again for being so amazing, friend. I hope you’ve found some downtime to relax this week; it sounds like last week was crazy for you!
